Polish law imposes no statutory form on a used-car sale. Under the freedom-of-form rule (art. 60 Kodeksu cywilnego) the contract is valid even orally, and no notarization or certified signature is needed. In practice you still need it in writing, because the wydział komunikacji and the tax office require the written contract to register the car and to process the PCC-3 declaration. Does a used-car sale contract in Poland have to be notarized?

No. Under the freedom-of-form rule (art. 60 Kodeksu cywilnego) a used-car sale is valid without a notary, and a plain private document signed by both parties is fully valid. You need the written contract in practice, to register the car and to file the PCC-3 tax form, not for the sale itself to take effect.

How much tax do I pay after buying a used car privately in Poland?
